Wendy Ooi's Farewell @ Red Box

Last Wednesday, 23 July 2008 was my colleague, Wendy Ooi's last day at work. The entire Sales & Marketing team from The Northam All Suite, Penang together with my boss, the Hotel Manager, Mr Jeffrey Tan joined Wendy for a Karaoke session at Red Box. Soo Theng was also invited to the Karaoke but then, she was still down with flu and cough. Soo Theng joined the singing session till 12.30am, I left together with her. Some of my team members continued singing till 2.45am together with my boss.

To Wendy, I wish her all the very best in her new job ! Let's stay in touch always ...

Nanthini's Visit

After 6 months away to Doha, Nanthini is back to Malaysia because of her sister's wedding in Johore. While she is back, she took the opportunity to stopover in Penang to pay both Soo Theng and myself a visit. We only had a night with Nanthini because the 2nd night was reserved for her catching up session with "The Boys" from THP's F&B Office.

At Soo Theng's place (evening of 24 June 2008), I cooked Tau Yew Bak and Fried Bee Hoon with the can Pork Chop. Nanthini simply loved it very much. Angeline also joined us for the dinner. After dinner, we went to G-Spot at G-Hotel for a drink and listening to some jazz music before we called it a night at about 11.30pm ! It was really great to have met up with Nanthini and we hope to see her again in the not too distant future .... hopefully, the next time when she comes back, she brought along her "extra baggage", some Sheikh from the Middle East Kingdom !

My 38th Birthday !

Celebrated my 38th Birthday on 14 June at Uptown at Upper Penang Road. Bought 2 bottles of Chivas, invited my entire Sales & Marketing team members together with my 2 bosses, Mr FC Chong, GM of Gurney Hotel and Mr Jeffrey Tan, HM of Northam All Suite, Penang.

We had good fun, lots of laughter and singing all night long. We ended the evening at about 10.30pm ... some of us continued to "Moist", a nearby nightspot ... I went for a little while before heading home .... was too tired to continue ....

Long Awaited Holiday !

Departed Penang on 1 May 2008 to Beijing to visit my dear brother Dennis Chin G Don who had left Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa to pursue his career as a Director of Rooms in Raffles Beijing. I have stayed with brother for 10 nights before departing to Shanghai to stay with Goh Voon Choong for another 4 nights before coming back to Penang on 14 May 2008.

The trip was awesome and I have had a good rest. Don't feel like coming back though ! Check out some of the pix that I have taken during my trip to China..... In the meantime, I look forward to my next holiday ... hopefully, this year end !

Wedding in Style !

Last weekend, 12 & 13 April 2008, we had a combined (The Gurney Resort Hotel & Residences and The Northam All Suite, Penang) wedding fair at the ballroom of Gurney Hotel. I must say that it was a successful event for us for having 19 weddings confirmed with a revenue of approximately 0.5 million being generated !

Great Food, Great Company !

Dennis, Angeline and I decided to have our dinner last night at Feringgi Garden, Batu Feringgi (near Park Royal Hotel). We started our dinner with Ceasar's Salad and soups; Mushroom and Shark's Fin followed by a Steak & Chicken Combo for me and Dennis while Angeline had a spicy Fish with cheese.

For dessert, we shared a plate of Banana Fritters with Vanilla Ice Cream and a plate of "Black & White" which is actually a half sliced of cheese cake and chocolate brownie with chocolate ice cream. Mind you, their ice cream is "Movenpick" .... Yum, yum !

I must say ... not only the food and service are good .... the company is good too ! It's a pity that our family members .... Soo Theng and Nanthini are not with us .... otherwise, it would have been much more fun !

Baby Oliver Cheong

The last time when I saw baby Oliver Cheong was about 4 to 5 months ago .... back then, she was just a tiny little sweet baby. Last night when I saw Oliver, I was amazed with her transformation .... she has changed into a beautiful baby gal and definitely much more active !

We had a lovely dinner at Dragon-I in Queensbay Mall .... Bamboo Chicken Rice with Chinese Sausage, Fried Shanghai Noodles with Seafood, Salted Egg Prawns and "Kong Pow" Chicken were our selected menu. Overall, the food and service were good.

It was a good catch up session for all of us because we have not seen Sharon for quite some time already. One other reasons why we had to do it last night is because Sharon and Baby Oliver will be joining Stanley in KL next week ... for good ....

It's Better Late than Never !

Well, this has been outstanding for a long time ... I owe my dear friend Nanthini Sathasivam a blog on her farewell dinner. Nan, an affectionate name that we called her, has left us to pursue her career in Doho as a Director of Human Resources in Shangri-La Doha.

Prior to her departure, we did a double celebration i.e. our Christmas Gift Exchange and Nan's Farewell Dinner at Tarmizi, a Fusion Restaurant in New World Park. This is a new eatery place built by the Kwok's Family. There were six of us at the dinner, Dennis, Soo Theng and hubby, Jimmy, Angeline, yours truly and the star of the evening, Nan.

Nan's farewell gifts were quite interesting ... Soo Theng gave her a nice wall clock, while, I bought her an earring holder... and guess what ? Our dear brother Dennis also bought her a similar earring holder ! What a coincident ! We all had a good laugh looking at our farewell presents for Nan.

Voon Chong back to Malaysia !

Having worked and stayed in Shanghai for 5 months, Voon Chong finally came back to Malaysia to celebrate CNY with his family in KL and also his "extended family" in Penang. He was back on 5 Feb to KL and came for a short trip to Penang on 13 till 16 Feb 2008. Finally, on 18 Feb 2008, Voon Chong returned to Shanghai.

We were all excited to welcome Voon Chong back to his "2nd Home" at Dennis's apartment. Angeline was kind enough to fetch Voon Chong from KL to Penang on 13 Feb 2008 and they both arrived at 8.30pm. As it was already late, we just went for a quick Hokkien Mee dinner followed by coffee at Starbucks.

14 Feb 2008, we all met up for a lunch at Song River .... had Choo Char i.e. Rice and dishes (Fish Soup with Salted Veg, Guiness Chicken, Taufu with Egg Plant and Kai Lan. After lunch, we went to frame up all our oil paintings (3 pcs from Dennis and 1 pc from me). Directly opposite Blossom, the frame shop is Telekom Malaysia. This is where Dennis went to install his Steamyx for internet broadband. Voon Chong suggested that we all cooked for dinner and off we went to 7th Street Wet Market. We went to THP to meet up with Elaine, Alex Phua and a few others for coffee before heading to Soo Theng's apartment for our cook-out session. We cooked Tau Yue Bak, Boiled Cockles, Herbal Soup, Fried Cabbage and Microwave Tong Miow Veg. After dinner, we all played our notebooks, Chor Ti and Chit Chat. We called it a day at 4.30am !

15 Feb 2008, the whole gang met up with Elaine for lunch at Kapitan followed by coffee at Starbucks. I joined them at about 2.30pm. After coffee, we all headed to Gurney Plaza whereby Voon Chong went for a haircut while Soo Theng, Dennis and I went for a foot reflexology. After that, we all lepak at Starbucks for coffee and internet surfing. Soo Theng suggested that we "ta pau" hawker food back to her apartment of which, everyone agreed. Other than hawker food, we also take-away some Chocolate Brownies and Baskin Robbins ice cream. Again, we all ended up surfing internet from our respective notebooks. The evening ended early .... 12.30am !

16 Feb 2008, Soo Theng already balik kampung to SP, Dennis working and me on 1/2 day. Met up with Voon Chong at THP and off we went to SP for lunch with Soo Theng, Jordan and Jimmy before sending Voon Chong to airport for his 8.30pm flight !

Although Voon Chong's trip to Penang was short however, it was packed with lots of exciting activities .... We all hope to see Voon Chong again .... soon !

Yat Fatt, Yat Fatt !

Voon Chong and I drove down to Sungai Petani on Saturday, 16 Feb 2008 for a lunch at "Sei Kow" (Jimmy father's kopitiam). We had my favourite Seo Bak, Char Siew, Chilli Prawns and Squid, Chilli Padi Fried Pork and Seo Bak, Steamed Egg and the famous Steamed Fish. The food were excellent !

Oops ... forgot to mention ... while waiting for the above food to be served on our table, I have asked Jordan (Soo Theng's son) to help me to pick for some lucky lottery tickets sold by Jimmy. The tickets were then scratched for lucky numbers and out of 6 tickets purchased, two of them were with the no. 18. Jimmy suggested that I buy no 1818 for that day. I ended up buying that no. for two days. Guess what ? I striked RM500 for Sunday's draw !!!

Well, immediately, after lunch, we drove back to Penang because Voon Chong had to catch a flight back to Kuala Lumpur. Until the next makan-makan at Sei Kow's Place ........

My "Windows of the World"

After long consideration, I have finally decided to pamper myself by buying a Samsung 32" LCD TV, model LA32R81B. It was delivered to my room just before Chinese New Year, to be more precise ... 2 days prior.

Comparing with my old faithful Sony 21", this is definitely better in terms of it's clarify and size. Now, I can see all my Korean man clearer and they sure look more handsome !!!! He ! He ! He !

Last night, we celebrated Aida Rashid's 38th Birthday as well as Ng Soo Chuan's 32nd Belated Birthday at Chili's, Gurney Plaza. We bought Aida a MAC lipstick and Soo Chuan a white Valentino polo t-shirt.

Well, after the dinner, we all adjourned to Carmen Club at City Bayview Hotel for two rounds of drinks and call it the night at almost 1.00am. Untill the next birthday celebration ... should be for Ravi Firdaus on 9 March ....

After using my old faithful Acer Travelmate 4000 series for 3 years, I have decided to get a new notebook. Many days of shopping were done ... from Prangin Mall to Gurney Plaza and finally to Queensbay Mall.

My initial choice was either a HP or Fujitsu but when Brother Dennis went shopping with me last Thursday, we both liked Sony Vaio very much. So, last Saturday evening, I bought a Blazing-Red Sony Vaio VGN-CR23G/R at RM4,488.

My Girl & One Fine Day

Last week, I have managed to complete 2 Korean Drama series ... one called "My Girl" while the other called "One Fine Day". Between both dramas, I liked My Girl better because it is more funny ....

Synopsis :
"My Girl" ... a romantic comedy. Joo Yoo-rin (Lee Da Hee) is a tour guide in a small company in charge of running mini tours in Jeju Island of South Korea. Yoo-rin lives with her father, who is addicted to gambling Yoo-rin's life is all lies and crises because of her father and his debts. When her father escapes the island to avoid his debtors, Yoo-rin goes to work. She is determined to support herself and to clear up the debts by selling oranges illegally picked from a hotel orchard and working as a tour guide on the island. Then, one day, she meets Seol Gong-Chan, the sole heir to the L'Avenue Hotel. To grant his grandfather's dying wish, Gong-Chan empl0ys Yoo-rin to act as his grandfather's long lost granddaughter. Last night, the entire Sales & Marketing team (except Diana, Nurdiana, Christine, Shahira & Norhidayah) from both hotels (Gurney & Northam) plus the 2 General Managers (FC Chong & Jack Soo) went to "Ah Ean's place" at Batu Kawan for a sumptuous seafood dinner. This dinner was hosted by Nicole Phang, to celebrate her promotion to a Sales Manager, effective 1 January 2008.

We had Baked Crabs, Steamed Lala, Chilli Balitong, Assam Prawns, Lala with Tau Cheo, Fried Sotong, Mee Teow, Fried Vegetables and for dessert, we ate Fried Ice Cream. The food was superb and everyone of us have enjoyed it very much ! Thank you Nicole ! Till the next promotion and next makan-makan ....

My KL Trip !

I went down to KL last Saturday after work and spent a night in Royal Bintang Hotel (compliments from my former boss, Mr Leo Kuscher, GM). My main purpose was to shop and also to have a tattoo done on my leg. Take a look at the slides and you'll see that I have had a butterfly done near my ankle (cost me RM250 !) .... I must admit that it was really, really painful ... what to do, no PAIN, no GAIN !

Hello Miss ... Another Korean Series

Yes ! Within the last 1 1/2 days (Saturday afternoon till Sunday at 11.00am) I have finished this 16-episode Korean Romantic Comedy drama called "Hello Miss". It's a very light heartening drama with many funny scenes ....

Synopsis : Lee Su-ha (played by Lee Da-hae) inherited the historical home, Hwa Ahn Dang, of the Je-an Lee clan after her father left for Seoul with another woman years ago and her mother died last year of stomach cancer. That is when her dual life began as the head of the nearly-ruined clan as she refused to give up on the Hwa Ahn Dang. But one day she meets Hwang Dong-kyu (played by Lee Ji-hoon), who asks her to sell the Hwa Ahn Dang to him by any means. Dong-kyu is the grandson of a servant who 50 years ago ran away from the Hwa Ahn Dang after stealing its cow and a bale of rice. My General Manager who is also my boss, Mr FC Chong had just returned from his annual trip with his family. This year, he went to "The Land of the Rising Sun", Japan for a 7D/6N trip. Before he left, I told him to get me a Kimono clad Japanese Doll and guess what, he really did came back with a beautiful Kimono clad Geisha Doll. It all started with my good friends Soo Theng and Dennis owning one each ... so I can't beat them, I've decided to join them instead. Right now, we are all in the same music world ... hehehehehehehe .... *wink*

Last evening, I went to watch a 7.10pm Walt Disney production called Enchanted starred by a very manly looking actor, named Patrick Dempsey and pitch perfect performance by Amy Adams. It's a classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess from the past who is thrust into present-day by an evil queen.

Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer.

I find this film to be so charming, innocent, funny, and fun. Overall, I enjoyed myself and I was smiling and laughing through out every minute of it.

Loads of Fun @ Genting Highlands

Last weekend, I went to Genting Highlands for a 2D/1N short getaway with my friends and colleagues. There were 7 on us who went in a hired van. On the way there, near Bukit Merah, the #&*#&@! van broke down due to no water in the radiator. We have only managed to arrive at Genting Highlands at 11.30pm, after 9 hours of travelling !

On the way back from Genting Highlands, the stupid van's air-conditioned broke down. Can you imagine that we had to rely on the wind from outside our van ??? We stopped at Ipoh to eat everyone's all time favorite ... "Ipoh Hor Fun and Taugeh Steamed Chicken". That was really good and yummy. Arrived back home at 9.30pm ... Our trip had been interesting and I have enjoyed it very much with my colleagues and friends.

Ms Ong Siew Hong's Birthday is supposed to be 8 December but then, Aunty (Siew Hong's mum) decided to celebrate her Birthday earlier (Wed, 5 Dec) because she will be joining us to Genting Highlands on the same day. Aunty cooked for her Nyonya Lam Mee, Roti Jala with Chicken Curry , Loh Bak and Nyonya Spring Roll.

I was honoured to be invited to celebrate Siew Hong's Birthday at her house, joined by her friends, Serene and Chi Son. For dessert, Aunty made Bubur Pulut Hitam with santan. Serene bought Siew Hong a lovely Hagan Dazz Ice Cream Birthday cake.

I have watched many, many Korean Drama series especially those with romantic comedy element. Last night, at almost 1.00am, I have managed to finish "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince, a 17 episode drama.

The drama synopsis ...

The life of Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) is not easy; she works many jobs to pay off debts and even gave up her feminine image. Choi Han Kyul (Gong Yoo) is the heir of a big food company, but his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates. Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. Han Kyul's grandmother also made Han Kyul in charge of a filthy coffee shop in danger of being bankrupt. Eun Chan begged to work at the coffee shop, and not long after, feelings start to spark, except, how would Han Kyul accept his "homosexuality"?

For those who likes Korean Dramas, I would strongly recommend that you watch this drama ... believe you me, this is one of the best drama that I have ever watched !

Seafood at "Ah Ean", Batu Kawan

Friday, 23 November 2007, almost all from S&M team from The Gurney Resort Hotel & Residences decided to drive to Batu Kawan for a seafood dinner at Ah Ean's place. With 9 dishes and Fried Ice Cream as dessert, the total dinner cost came up to only RM169.00 only. What a deal .... Really Cheap & Good !!!

The Best Thai Chicken Laksa Lemak

Today, my colleague who is also a friend from The Northam All Suite, Penang, by the name of Ms Ong Siew Hong has kindly invited Michelle Koay and me to her house during lunch hour to savour her Nyonya mum's Homecook Thai Chicken Laksa Lemak. The ingredients are similar to our Penang Asam Laksa except that this Thai Laksa is cooked using chicken meat to substitute for fish. The other extra ingredient used is "Kiam Chye" @ Salted Vegetable which actually made this laksa unique in it's taste.

I must say that this is the best Thai Laksa that I have ever eaten. Yum, yum, it was so delicious that I ended up having two big bowls of it. Ahyo, come to think of it, my Totalife Diet is down the drain today because of my greedy craving for the laksa !

Thank you Siew Hong for the invitation and I look forward to be invited again to sample your mum's Nyonya Lam Mee which I also made to understand that it is her speciality.

Totalife 12th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, 17 November till Sunday, 18 November 2007, as a qualified DO, I was given a FREE ticket to attend Totalife 12th Anniversary Majestic Celebration at Genting Highlands. A total of 130 of us departed from Penang on Saturday at approximately 7.30am and with 3 stops in between, we have managed to arrive Genting Highlands at 3.00pm to check-in at First World Hotel.

At 6.30pm, we all assembled at Genting International Convention Centre, Grand Ballroom where the Majestic Celebration was held. Many awards and cash bonuses were given out to their Achievers of many different levels. A slimming contest was also held with the contestants who have managed to shed- off 30kgs and above. The main highlight for that evening was a live performance by Elaine Kang who has sung a number of oldies such as River of Babylon, Hero, Celebration and many others.

A trip to Genting Highlands would not be complete without a visit to their casino. I have taken this opportunity to check-out their new slot machines and have heavily invested in their 2 cents machines !!!

We departed for Penang on Sunday at 4.00pm and by the time I arrived back home, it was already 11.30pm. The trip has been an eye-opener for me ... witnessing how much Totalife has helped it's members to lose weight and gained back their curves. I am very convince that I also can have those curves if I controlled my eating habit.

Wednesday, 14 November 2007, my sales team members from The Northam, All Suite and I decided to throw a Farewell Dinner for our colleague, Mr Loo Huan Lin, Sales Coordinator. Huan Lin had tendered his resignation to pursue his studies for a Master Degree in Communications. Golden BBQ Steamboat Restaurant located at Nagore Road was the chosen venue to celebrate Huan Lin's farewell. The food varieties were great and the price was reasonable i.e. at only RM19.90 nett per person, we had unlimited food from the buffetline.

Here's to Huan Lin, we all wish him all the very best of luck and success in his future undertakings.

Monday, 12 November 2007, I invited Soo Theng and Nanthini to join me for a movie and Soo Theng suggested that we watched "Stardust". Stardust begins in a sleeping English Village of Wall, so named for the cobblestone wall that has, for eons, kept the villagers safely apart from the supernatural parallel universe that lies just on the other side.

A young man named Tristan (Charlie Cox) tries to win the heart of Victoria (Sienna Miller), the beautiful but cold object of his desire, by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star. My only reason to attend this celebration is to go for the "makan-makan" (he ! he ! he !). Some of the food from the high tea are Fried Mee Mamak, Quiche Lorraine, Curry Puff, Chicken Lobak, Fruit Tartlettes, Chocolate Cake, Mini Samosa, Fried Chicken, Fruit Skewers and many others ....

Short Shopping Spree (3-S)

Friday night, 26 October (immediately after work @ 7.30pm) to Sunday almost midnight, 28 October 2007, we (Soo Theng, Nanthini and I) were away to the capital city of Malaysia. Soo Theng's main trip purpose is to attend their "class of 89" reunion dinner at One World Hotel while our (Nanthini & I) main purpose is to shop, shop and shop.

On the way to KL, we have actually stopped at Ipoh to have the famous "Ngah Choi Kai and Ipoh Hor Fun" in Loh Wong Kopi Tiam. We arrived at Traders Hotel, KL just as the clock striked midnight.

The next morning, we went to "The Pavillion" the latest shopping mall at Bukit Bintang area and I must say that this is one of the biggest mall in Kuala Lumpur with many different Anchor Tenants from many different brands. After "heavy" shopping, we headed back to the hotel for a short rest before heading to Estee Soo's condo to drop off Soo Theng.

Soo Theng and Estee went to their reunion dinner while, Nanthini and I went to 1-Utama to continue our shopping. Later, after we all returned to hotel at about 10.15pm, Nanthini joined her sister, Shanthini and hubby, Jegan and friends at Sky Bar and they were later joined by Soo Theng and Estee.

Sunday morning, we all continued shopping at KLCC before going to IKEA for more shopping in the afternoon. At about 7.30pm, we headed home to Penang and reached back to the island at approximately 11.30pm. We have all truly enjoyed our "3-S" .... Short Shopping Spree.

Until the next one .. most probably just before Christmas ..... :-)

Monday, 15 October 2007 @ 3.30pm, I decided to upgrade my Nokia model N70 to Nokia model N73-I with Music Edition.

After I have shopped around at Prangin Mall to look for the best deal, I decided to buy from Super One Zero One simply because their offer is very attractive i.e. at only RM1,200. By trade-in my N70 at RM600, I only have to top up another RM600. This is really a fabulous deal and I immediately, accepted it.

Being so excited and happy, I have actually overlooked by not checking to see if all my address book from N70 was transferred to the new N73. Can you imagine ? When I finally needed make a call from my phone on that night, I realised that there were no contact details at all ! I panicked and called up the salesman but I could not get him.

The following morning, I quickly went back to the shop to request for my N70 and was told that they have sold it off on the same night itself. I was devastated and at the same time, upset at myself for being so careless ! Now, I have to now start from scratch by building a new address book for my new phone. What to do ? This is the price that I have to pay for being so careless !

Chicken Chop a'la Chef Dennis

Wednesday, 10 October 2007, Brother Dennis was on his off day and had volunteered to cook for all his sisters (Soo Theng, Nanthini, Angeline and me). There he was, in the afternoon went to Cold Storage to buy the ingredients for Chicken Chop and Spaghetti.

By the time we all arrived at Dennis's apartment at approximately 8.30pm, the dinner was already ready. I must say that the Chicken Chop is one of the best that I have ever eaten reason being the deepfried chicken breast were very tender and juicy compared to outside Western Food stalls !

Here's to "Chef Dennis", thank you for taking the time to cook for all of us ... it's really nice to come back to a homecook meal especially after a long day at work ... In the meantime, we are all looking forward to the next one ..... in the not too distant future ...

A short break to Ko Samui !

Wednesday to Friday i.e. 3 to 5 October 2007, Dennis, Soo Theng and I decided to take a short break to Ko Samui. Although it was a short holiday, we have actually maximised our time by lining up many exciting activities and making sure that not a minute is wasted. Take a look at the slides and you will see how much fun we had at Ko Samui.

Above all, I have enjoyed this trip very much with my good friends; Soo Theng and Dennis. It's a pity that Nanthini is not able to join us this time ... but, I am sure she will come with us on our next holiday trip... Until the next one ...

Two Piece Swim Suit ?

Monday, 1 October 2007 .... two days prior to our trip to Ko Samui, both Dennis and Soo Theng have encouraged me to invest in a swim suit. There I am, immediately after work at 7.00pm, I went to Arena, a shop selling swimming suits for both men and ladies in Gurney Plaza.

After trying out many different types of swimming suits, I have decided to settle for this two-piece one from Australia called Sun Seeker. Although, I know for the fact that I may not have the guts to wear it out in the open, I still buy it ... who know, I may changed my mind later. Talking about that, this sky blue swim suit actually cost me RM248.90 !

Aunty Chan's 80th Birthday !

Sunday, 30 September 2007, We (brother, wife and I) were invited to celebrate my aunty's 80th Grand Birthday at "Sesame Soy", a fine dining Chinese Restaurant in The G Hotel. The restaurant's decoration is very modern with elegant looking cutleries and chinaware but for a traveller who does not know the type of cuisine served by Sesame Soy would think that this is a Western or Fusion Restaurant.

Well, the service was rather excellent for both food and beverages from the time we were seated until we left the restaurant. Food presentation was nice and impressive but the food portioning was way too little ... At the rate that we are paying i.e. RM88 nett per person, I thought that the food portioning was actually meant for a food tasting/sampling instead !

Nevertheless, I have enjoyed the company of all present. Here's to wishing Aunty Chan, a Very Happy Birthday, full of blessings and happiness !

Day Trip to Sungai Petani !

Sunday, 30 September 2007, all three of us (Dennis, Nanthini and I) travelled down from Penang to Sungai Petani to "Sei Kow", Soo Theng hubby's Choo Char shop. By the time we arrived at SP, it was almost 1.00pm and Soo Theng was already awaiting for us at the shop. Jimmy, Soo Theng's hubby had arranged a few signature dishes for us such as Seo Bak, Char Siew, Sambal Prawns & Squids, Fried Omelette, Steamed Fish and Chilli Padi Pork accompanied by steamed rice (specially done in individual silver container). The food was simply delicious and we were all so "puas" with our indulgence ! Yummy, yummy !

We adjourned to "Seventeen" a cafe in SP's new township (near Tesco) for a drink and also browsing internet for images of our trip to Ko Samui this Wednesday, 3 October 2007. Speaking about Ko Samui, all three of us (Dennis, Soo Theng and I) are very excited and are looking forward to our adventure ! So, stay tune for the next update on our trip to Ko Samui.

We all headed home at 4.00pm and reached Penang at about 5.30pm.

Saturday, 29 September 2007, it's Nuzul Al Quran Public Holiday ... Unfortunately, for me, I have to work because this is the only PH that my hotel does not recognise ... In the afternoon, I went to my nail salon to "lepak" with friends like Nanthini and Lyn who came over to chit chat while having their manicure and pedicure done.

Later, we (Nanthini and I) rushed to the 7th street market to buy the ingredients for Tau Yew Bak (Dark Soya Sauce Pork) and Fried Bee Hoon with can Guilong Pork. Went back to my house for a quick shower and while waiting for me, Nanthini got to know Puffy, my persian cat better.

Arrived at Dennis' s place, cooked Tau Yew Bak and Fried Bee Hoon. Dennis could not come back on time, so we ended up eating with Angeline.

We both went to Red Box Gurney Plaza to join both Aw Eng Liang @ The Purple Rain Rocker and Lyn Teh. Dennis came later to join us in the karaoke and we all had sensational time until almost 4.00am !

Chuck & Larry .. a Couple ???

Thursday, 27 September 2007, Dennis was on his off day. After sending his Hong Kong friend to the airport, he invited me for lunch. We (Dennis, Ravi Firdaus and me) had Nyonya lunch at Nyonya Breeze, Abu Siti Lane. After lunch, we adjourned to Old Town Cafe, New World for our White Coffee and Hemut milk tea.

We went back to work after our coffee and tea, while Dennis went for his hair cut at Gurney Plaza. Dennis called me from there to ask if we wanted to join him to watch "I now pronounced you Chuck & Larry", a comedy movie at 7.10pm. In the end, only Soo Theng and me joined Dennis because Nanthini had to finish her 2008 Budget for manning.

Chuck & Larry is about two good friends, Chuck Levine and Larry Valentine who are firefighters. Victims of circumstance, Chuck has to claim Larry to be his domestic partner on some city forms in order to beat some procedural red tape. They think it will be easy because nobody will ever know. After Chuck agrees, the two men go to Niagara Falls to get married, and Chuck moves in with Larry and his unsuspecting kids. However, an official becomes suspicious, and the new couple's arrangement goes from confidential to front-page news. Forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds, Chuck and Larry must now fumble through a charade of domestic bliss under one roof. After surviving their mandatory honeymoon and dodging the threat of exposure, the well-intentioned conmen discover that sticking together in times of crisis is what truly makes a family.

All three of us liked the comedy very much ... definitely most suitable for those who need to a good laugh after a long day at work !

We had coffee at Starbucks Gurney Plaza, later joined by Nanthini. After coffee, we went for our Hokkien Mee Supper with extra "Oink Oink" @ Seo Bak and pork balls at Hot Wok. It was so yummy !!! We called off the evening at approximately 12.30am.

Friday, 21 September 2007, I had my dinner with Michelle Koay at Taipan Fins, The Northam, All Suite ... After a wonderful dinner, we were invited to sample some of our homemade mooncakes which come in different types of fillings, from chocolate to coffee flavour to green tea and the traditional ones such as lotus paste and red bean. The one that captures my attention is our signature mooncake in the shape of a pig ... oink ! oink !

He saw this beautiful hand bouquet from Front Office to my GM lying on the Executive Secretary's desk which was meant to be a Get Well gift because of his slip disc. Bob, being Bob, a mischievous, fun and loving guy in our hotel "borrowed" this bouquet to "propose" to me on his knees ! Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! Look at how funny we were !!!

Wednesday & Thursday, 19 & 20 September 2007, Aunty Rosemary came to Penang after her holiday in Japan. This time, Aunty Rosemary's trip is short i.e. 2N/3D trip .. but it was a very fruitful trip for aunty. We had a wonderful Seafood Dinner hosted by aunty at Ocean Green Restaurant on the 1st night and an 8-course special Chinese Dinner at White Beach Restaurant hosted by See Kim aunty for the 2nd night.

Friday, 21 September 2007, we (brother and wife, See Kim aunty, Anne and me) sent aunty to the Penang International Airport for her flight to Singapore on MH653 at 1.15pm. Here's wishing aunty a pleasant trip to Singapore for her 1 week stay before departing back to Sydney, Australia.

After Voon Choong's departure on Saturday morning, Dennis, Angeline and I decided to go for a movie in the same afternoon .... we went to watch Hairspray a musical comedy by a number of good stars such as John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah and many others. The story is about Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion, dancing. If you need a good laugh, then go for "Hairspray" cos, I am very sure that this musical is going to enlighten you like what it has done for me !

Sunday, 16 September 2007, another Movie Marathon Day ... this time we watched Knocked Up by two unknown stars; Seth Rogen as Ben Stone, and Katherine Heigl as Alison Scott. Ben is a 23-year-old slacker who is in the process of establishing fleshofthestars.com, a website that lists the exact moment in time at which nude scenes with famous actresses occur in films. Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl) is a responsible young woman who works behind the scenes at E! Television Network. After a drinking together one night, they had a one night stand. Eight weeks later, Alison begins feeling very sick and comes to the conclusion that she is pregnant, and she contacts Ben. She tells Ben that she is pregnant and that she has decided to keep the baby. The rest of th story is about how both of them learn to know each other and coping with her pregnancy. My rating on this movie is so, so only and only to be watched if you have extra time to kill !

Next, we watched The Brave One by Jodie Foster who acted as Erica Bain, a successful NYC Radio host with a loving fiance. But her world is shattered when she was brutally beaten and the love of her life is killed. When the police is unable to help her, Erica goes on a vigilante hunt on the city street to track down and revenge against the men who ruined her life. This is definitely a better movie to watch although it is a bit slow ....

Well, after those 3 movies within the two days, we all felt better !!! What to do, life needs to go on ....

Thursday, 13 September 2007 @ 5pm, Nanthini picked up Voon Choong from the bus station upon his return from KL. They went back home to change. Then, Soo Theng pick us from our respective homes to Bali Hai, Gurney Drive for a sumptuous seafood dinner (Marmite Prawns, Salted Egg Crabs, "Mee Teow Fried", Baked Oysters, Prawn Mantis with Dried Chillies, Mango Chicken and Seafood Hor Fun. After dinner, we went to Bagan for a Vodka session with a few rounds of snooker games and "three cards" with loser had to drink the vodka. We ended the evening at 4.00am at Soo Theng's apartment with more vodka and card games !

Friday, 14 September 2007, everyone (except for Nanthini cos her two EXCOMs had already taken their off day on the same day) took off on that day to continue Voon Choong's farewell celebration. We started the day with lunch at Old Town Cafe, New World and by 3.00pm, we were already home to catch up with our nap. At 5.30pm, Soo Theng came to fetch us all and off we headed to the Mainland for a quick household shopping at SSF, Prai. By the time we reached SSF, it was already 7.45pm due to massive traffic jam being Friday rush hour and also the heavy downpour that does not help the situation. From SSF, we went to Auto City 2 a newly developed township with many nice restaurants and watering holes such as Bed and Vivo. We had our dinner at Soho because our original plan of having dinner at Tao, Japanese Restaurant was too packed.

To Voon Choong, we all wish him all the very best in his new posting and may he finds success in Shanghai ! We will not say goodbye but instead, we will say ... See You Later ! I am sure we will all be able to meet up with him again, soon .... be it in Shanghai or ........

Sunday, 2 September 2007, nothing to do but to laze around the house ... in the afternoon, I decided to pay a visit to my friend, Sharon Heah to see her and baby gal. Olivia Cheong was born on 27 June 2007 to both Stanley and Sharon. Adorable and very active baby who likes to be carried and pat on her back at all times.

Later, after visiting Sharon, I headed to my nail salon for my manicure and pedicure. Using one of OPI latest colours from the Russia collection called "Vodka and Carviar", I put it on my toes ... Wow ! the red is so vibrant and I like it very much!!!

We all (Dennis, Voon Choong, Angeline and me) grouped at Nanthini's apartment for a steamboat dinner and I must say that the soup boiled by her is simply delicious ! Soo Theng joined us later upon her return from her hometown at Sungai Petani. We ended the evening by watching Tom & Jerry and playing Chor Ti at the same time.

Thursday, 30 August 2007, Eve of Malaysia's Independence Day ... we (Soo Theng, Voon Choong, Angeline, new house mate of Dennis and me) had a Choo Char dinner (Pai Kut Ong, Lotus Soup, Fish Curry and Fried Kai Lan with Salted Fish) near Tanjung Bungah market. Later, we adjourned to Soo Theng's place for a "21 o'clock" poker gambling session .... with more friends joining us i.e. Nanthini, Alister, Christine and many others ... We ended the evening early at approximately 12.45am as everyone were too tired to go on ...

Friday, 31 August 2007, Malaysia's 50th Independence Day ... we all had lunch together (Soo Theng, Nanthini, Voon Choong and me) at the new Old Town Cafe, located at New World Park.... It was a sumptious lunch and we all enjoyed it very much.

Later in the afternoon at approximately 4.30pm, I went to Traders Hotel (THP) to pick up Nanthini and Voon Choong for our groceries shopping at "7 Street" market. Besides groceries, Nanthini bought herself 3 black beautiful blouses. Went back to Dennis and Voon Choong's place and started our cooking.

Nanthini cooked Tau Yew Bak, while Voon Choong steamed Prawns with Coconut Milk A'la Nyonya (using his mother's recipe), Boiled Chicken Soup with Lotus Roots, Peanuts, Red Dates and Cuttlefish, Boiled Cockles Meat with Homemade Garlic & Chilli Padi Sauce and Fried Beansprout with Salted Fish. Other than that, we have Fried Kai Lan with Prawns and Seo Bak (Roasted pork which we bought from the market).

We ended the dinner with Red Beans Soup made by Nanthini and not forgetting our favorite fresh Longans, too. Soo Theng and her hubby, Jimmy also joined us for dessert.

As usual, after dinner, we played Chor Ti until almost 1.00am and the loser for the game is me and was made to drink red wine and champagne by Dennis ... Face all red and had to be driven home by Dennis ! Shame on me for not being able to drink .....

Monday, 27 August 2007, Brother Dennis was on his off-day and he was supposed to be resting at home as he was down with flu and fever since Saturday, 25 August 2007. However, Brother Dennis volunteered to be the Chef of the Day ! He even sacrified his beauty sleep by going to the Tanjung Bungah Market early in the morning to buy all the groceries and ingredients that he needed for his cooking.

At 6.00pm, our Chef started with his preparation and cooking .... By the time we were all there at about 8.30pm, the dinner was already ready.

It was a superb dinner and everyone of us (Soo Theng, Nanthini, Voon Choong and I) have enjoyed his cooking very much ! Thank you Dennis and we all look forward to the next one .... in the not too distant future !

Movie Marathon Day !

Sunday, 26 August 2007, Brother Dennis and I decided to watch "Contract Lover" at GSC Gurney Plaza. This romantic comedy is by my favorite actor, Richie Ren @ Richie Jen and new come actress, Fan Bing Bing, probably from Mainland China.

Contract Lover is about Fatt (Richie Jen) is from a family of martial arts experts, but he ends up being a businessman instead. He intends to introduce his girlfriend (Kate Tsui) to his father (Yuen Wah) but is skeptical if his father could accept her modern ways. Hence, Fatt resorts to hiring a temporary girlfriend to test out his father.

Zao (Fan Bing Bing) has just graduated from university and urgently needs money. She takes up the job and signs a contract with Fatt to be his temporary lover. Fatt brings his hired lover home to meet his father, only to expect the unexpected. The ending was good and I am so glad that we have chosen to watch this movie....

Finished Contract Lover at about 5.00pm and being too early for our dinner at CHA, Traders Hotel Penang, we decided to watch another movie ... This time, we have chosen to watch Rogue Assassin by Jet Li.

Rogue Assasin is an action packed movie with lots of killing, fun-shots and sword fighting ! The story .... After his partner Tom Wynne (Terry Chen) and family are killed apparently by the infamous and elusive assassin Rogue (Jet Li), FBI agent Jack Crawford (Jason Statham) becomes obsessed with revenge as his world unravels into a vortex of guilt and betrayal. Rogue eventually resurfaces to settle a score of his own, setting off a bloody street war between Asian mob rivals, Chang (John Lone), head of the Chinese triads and Yakuza boss Shiro (Ryo Ishibashi). When Jack and Rogue finally come face to face, the ultimate truth of their past was revealed. The movie ending was unexpected ... something that we could not have guessed !

After the movie, we head on to CHA, a tea-dining bistro serving local chinese and Huaiyang specialities for a wonderful dinner hosted by Soo Theng, Nanthini and Voon Choong ... we had Stewed Pork, Prawns in Salted Eggs, Kailan with Salted Fish, Chinese Wine Chicken and Fried Cod Fish with Soya Sauce. For dessert, we had "Woh Peng", a Chinese Pancake. It was a superb dinner ..... Thanks to our 3 good friends for inviting both Dennis and me to savour this unique cuisine !

Perfect Stranger ... with Perfect Ending !

Saturday midnight, 25 August 2007, we (Dennis, his DM Peter, Ravi Firdaus and me) went for a midnight show ... Perfect Stranger by Bruce Willis and Halle Berry.

Storyline ....

When investigative reporter Rowena Price learns that her friend's murder might be connected to powerful ad executive Harrison Hill, she goes undercover with the help of her associate, Miles Hailey. Posing as Katherine, a 'temp' at Hill's ad agency, and Veronica, a girl Hill flirts with online, Rowena surrounds her prey from all sides, only to discover that she isn't the only one changing identities. The closer Rowena gets to finding the truth, the more we see how far people will go to protect it.

Definately a worth watching movie .....

Friday, 24 August 2007, we all met at Soo Theng's beautifully decorated apartment for a simple "Chicken Porridge" dinner with Panfried Luncheon Meat and Ladies Fingers. Nanthini who is not a fan of porridge brought along her dinner ... Chapati, a Chicken Dish and her home made Ikan Bilis which we all liked very much !

After dinner, we lepak lazyly with our notebook and at the same time, watching Perfect Stranger by Bruce Willis and Halle Berry. We ended the evening just as the clock ticks midnight.

Wednesday, 22 August 2007 @ approximately 7.30pm, Nanthini called me to inform that Voon Choong was on his way back from KL and at the same time informed that she was going to the Bus Station to pick him up. She invited me to tag along ... so I went lah .. we arrived at the Sungai Nibong Bus Station just before 10pm as Voon Choong had informed that his ETA was 10pm.

Waited, waited and waited until almost 10.30pm but he was no where to be seen. Nanthini tried calling him for many, many times until our "mobile phone almost pecah" but he still did not answer his call. Well, finally, we have managed to get whole of him and was told that there was a slight delay.

Rather than continue to stand at the bus station to wait for our friend, looking as though we are "selling ourselves", we decided to buy McDonalds behind USM.

Went back to the bus station and Voon Choong was already there waiting. By that time, it was already 11.00pm, we were all so tired to go anywhere else ... we decided to head home !

Nyonya Dinner & Chor Ti !

Monday, 20 August 2007, Nanthini was on lobby duty until 8pm while Voon Choong was busy with his work.... so, I had to eat dinner on my own at Linda's Kopi Tiam. At about 8.30pm, both Nanthini and Voon Choong invited me to join them for a dinner at Hot Wok. I went there for a dessert instead, ordered a Mango Sago which was so horrible with no taste at all !!!

Nanthini suggested that we all go back home for a shower and to meet up again at about 10.30pm at Starbucks Island Plaza. We met again and had our Latte, while Nanthini had Lemon something, something which is actually a refreshing drink with Equal.

Guess what ? Instead of surfing net or updating our blog, we ended up with "Chor Ti", our favorite past time card game !!!! We ended the evening just before midnight !

Sunday, 19 August 2007 ... went to Pulau Tikus market in the morning with Nanthini to buy supplies for our dinner. Came back home and started our cooking in our respective homes.

Pick-up Voon Choong from work at about 5pm, off to "7th Street" market to buy some of the supplies that we have missed out in the morning. Went to Nanthini's house to pick her up and also her delicious Green Curry Chicken.

Arrived back at Dennis and Voon Choong's apartment. Started cooking the balance of the food .... menu for that night was Green Curry Chicken, Black Soya Sauce Pork, Prawn Fritters, Fried Siput, Boiled Cockles Meat, Acar Awak, Seo Bak and Tofu in Salted Fish Soup. Dennis came back from work at approximately 7.45pm and by 8.00pm, we were all seated for dinner.

After a hearty dinner, we all sat down to watch Unfaithful by Richard Gere and Diane Lane. The story is about Edward and Connie Sumner who are a wonderfully maintained middle-aged couple living the American dream. Together with their eight year-old son, a dog and a housekeeper, they share an enviable life in the suburbs of New York City. But no life goes unchallenged: This happy marriage, dampened by the routines of affluence, falls prey to an outsider when Connie has a fateful collision with a stranger on a Soho street. It's an encounter which assaults her with mystery, spontaneity, charm and risk. It will pull Connie into an affair which will become her obsession. Well, after Unfaithful, being wide awake, we all continued with another movie by Richard Gere .... Pretty Woman .... the actress is none other than Julia Roberts. The story began with a self-involved corporate raider Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) who has recently split up with his girlfriend. Seeking directions to the Beverly Hills Hotel, he makes the acquaintance of free-spirited hooker Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) and decides to put her on a 3,000-dollar retainer as his "date." He Cinderellarizes her by bankrolling a full wardrobe and cosmetic makeover.

Evan Almighty !

Saturday night, 18 August 2007, Nanthini and I went to GSC Gurney Plaza to watch the 10.15pm movie called Evan Almighty.

The story is about newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves the city of Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life turns upside-down when God appears and commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just could not decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions...

Prior to that, we had Grilled Chicken Foldover from McDonalds for our dinner ... my very first time having it and I'm loving it ! Thanks to Nanthini for introducing it to me.

Moon's Farewell

The time has come for all of us to bid farewell to our colleague, Ms Moon Yeoh, Events Executive who will be leaving for KL to join her fiance who is the Front Office Manager of Prince Hotel.

Moon will be taking up the position of a Sales Coordinator in Cititel Mid Valley, KL. We all wish Moon all the very best in her new job !!!

Ratatouille !!!

The long awaited animation ... Ratatouille finally was screened in the Gurney Plaza Cinema. Nanthini, Dennis, Voon Choong and I decided to catch this animation on it's first day i.e. Friday, 16 August 2007 at 9.15pm.

"Ratatouille" is about a lovable rat - Remy - who constantly risks his life in an expensive French restaurant because of his love for good food, as well as a burning desire to become a gourmet chef. Obviously, this is rather far-fetched for a rat but opportunity knocks when a young boy, who desperately needs to keep his job at the restaurant despite not being able to cook to save his life, makes Remy a partner.

The two of them learn to avoid the insane head chef, bring the rest of Remy's family up to his culinary standards, win the boy a girlfriend, and of course, produce the finest ratatouille in all of France!

Drinking and Chor Ti are one of our favorite past time ... Monday, 13 August 2007, Soo Theng, Nanthini, Voon Chong, Dennis and I decided to hang out at QE II for a booze session and Chor Ti.

Well, for a beginner like Dennis, I must say that he has played extremely well, especially towards the end ... must be the "beginner's luck".

Prior to that, we went for a simple dinner (Ipoh Hor Fun and Steamed Chicken) simply because most of the "Choo Char" were closed due to the 1st day of Hungry Ghost month !

Wendy to Barcelona & Cannes !

When my ex-boss, Ms Julie Jackson, DOSM first told me that she is sending me to Spain and Cannes for EIBTM and ILTM, I was so thrilled ... A week prior to travelling, I could not sleep and kept thinking of both countries (Spain and France) because I have not been there before.

Well, finally, I made it on mid November 2007 ... I must say that the place is really WOW ! Managed to learnt a few spanish words, the popular one is "mucho gracias", means thank you. The hotel that I have stayed together with all the other friends from other Shangri-Las is called Hotel Arts Barcelona, a 5-star hotel, located next to their Barcelona Casino. Guess what, the darling of every women, Anthonio Banderas walked into the hotel one evening with his bodyguards. All our jaws dropped as he entered into the hotel. Matured, manly and charming !

After taking Tapas for almost a week, I have finally, decided to just go for simple food, guess what ? It's McDonalds .... located just right in front of their square. Went for heavy shopping around Catalunya place ... and their main shopping store called En Cote Iglacias... Bought a total of 7 bottles of perfumes from Zara ... really good bargain I must say.

Well from there, I travelled to Cannes ... The ILTM Tradeshow was held in Palais de France, an exhibition hall where the yearly famous Film Festival is held. Stayed in Martinez Hotel which is also belonging to Ritz Carlton group, the hotel is beautiful with excellent service and overlooking the ocean. Cannes is really a place for all the rich and famous to be ... movie stars, singers and many tycoons are always there with their pets to walk along the beach ...

Above all, I have trully enjoyed my trip there and have made many new friends with the Shangri-La family members.

Aida Rashid, my colleague who is also a Sales Manager incharged of India Market was scheduled to go for a roadshow to India in August 2006. When she found out that she was pregnant, my former DOSM, Ms Julie Jackson asked me to go instead.

Here I am, never been to India was so excited ... don't know what to expect ... all geared up ... The day arrived and I flew off to India.

Finally, arrived into New Delhi at approximately 10pm ... airport was so packed with Indians ... the airport was so horrible, dirty and dusty. Not only that, all the roads in India are also dirty and dusty as well ... Ahyo .... what an ugly sight compared to all the other countries that I have been !

Arrived into Shangri-La New Delhi ... very impressive and service was excellent ! Told by the GSE and GSM not to consume any water from the tap ... otherwise food poisoning. The following morning, two other colleagues from Shangri-La KL, Mr Allan Khoo and Island Shangri-La, Mr Larry Chan joined me. This roadshow is lead by Ms Nancy Lee and Ms Wendy Siah from Regional Sales Office Singapore.

Two days on sales calls and on the final day, we were in the hotel for a table-top presentation and dinner with selected agents and corporates. When we were on the road during sales calls, we witnessed their miserable lifestyle... lots of street beggars both young and old and some of them are without their limbs !!! While your taxi is waiting for the traffic light to turn green, many children and beggars will come to your car to either to sell their novels or motivational books or just to beg for money.

From New Delhi, we all flew together to Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay. Here, also no different than New Delhi, dirty, dusty and lots of street beggars. We stayed in a beach front boutique hotel known as Inter-Continental Mumbai with only 80 rooms. All rooms come with a personalised butler and my female butler's name is Ms Pooja.

Same arrangement as in New Delhi, we were on sales calls for two days and on the third day, we had our table-top session followed by dinner in our hotel. The RSVP for the table-top session and dinner was much better than in New Delhi. The audiences were much more serious and they have shown more interest in our properties.

My experience in both New Delhi and Mumbai have actually changed my perception in our lifestyle ... comparing India and Malaysia, we are far more developed, better infrastructure and better quality in terms of our standard of living !!! Thank God, we are Malaysians !!!!

Wendy to DOEM Workshop

Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa has kindly sent me to Beijing for 3 days/2 nights in July 2006 for a Director of Events Management Workshop held in China World Hotel. I must say that the workshop was very interesting and informative and from there, I have met all my counterparts from all over Shangri-La.

Not to forget, shopping was great there ... especially in the silk market and the electronics departmental store ... we were all so excited and happy because we have managed to buy a MP4 for only RM90 ... what a bargain !!! However, when we came back to Malaysia, the MP4 is so lousy that it cannot be played ! What a rip-off !

Other than that, we have bought plenty of silk stuff such as cushion covers, tissue box holders, table runners and many others. My other friends have bought many handbags ... from Gucci to Prada and from LV to Coach ....

Wendy & Soo Theng to Magical Kingdom !

In February 2006, Soo Theng had to attend a Shangri-La event in Hong Kong and she has kindly invited me to tag along with her. We were there for a 3N/4D in Island Shangri-La before we end our Hong Kong trip in Disneyland Hong Kong for a 1N/2D vacation.

While Soo Theng was busy in her Shangri-La event, I went on shopping spree .... bought 7 bottles of perfumes, a set of pendant and earrings from Agatha, an Aldo working shoes and a lot of other small stuffs. On the 4th day, we took a train to the Magical Kingdom ... guess what ? the train that we ride to Disneyland has many Mickey's heads ... from window frame to the passengers' handrail, to seats, etc.

It was really magical and Disneyland's Kingdom has always been well liked by everyone ... from young to old. We both went on many different rides and had good fun till went up to the "Space Mountain", an indoor roller coaster ride which actually scared the hell out of me !!! At the end of the ride, I could not walk properly ... my whole body was shaking so badly that I almost threw out.

The afternoon was not to be missed .... we actually saw their parade with all their Disney's characters showing off their skills ! Many different characters were there in full costumes ... Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Snow While and Seven Dwarfs, Toy Story and many others.

We end the evening with a big bang ... witnessing their spectacular Fire Works display !!! Wow, it was an amazing experience !!!!
